Nutritionist
What is Nutrition?
Nutrition is the study of how food affects the body and the best ways to achieve and maintain health and vitality through food. Healthy choices ensure that we get enough nutrients from our food (such as vitamins and minerals), to keep the body functioning well.
What we eat affects our ability to study, work, do sport, be happy and to enjoy and get the most out of life. Knowledge of what to eat and in what quantities is an essential ingredient to a healthy and happy life.
Nutritional Medicine promotes a pro-active approach to health by focusing on prevention of disease as well as treatment of disease conditions.
What is a Nutritionist?
A Nutritionist studies Nutritional Medicine which is food and how it effects our health and wellbeing. They are trained to assist in preventative health measures and treatment of many conditions.

Your first Nutrition Consultation
Your first consultation will take up to 1½ hours. We will discuss your presenting problem and go through a questionnaire to explore current health problems, family history and health history. Using this information you will be provided with a plan or advice to help you towards improving your quality of life.
These suggestions will most likely include diet and lifestyle improvements and if required referrals to other practitioners.
You will be offered support and advice to heal yourself without judgment.
A Nutrition consultation explores the biochemical imbalances and possible diet and lifestyle patterns that may be behind an illness. You are encouraged to be an active participant in achieving balance, health and wellbeing through education and support.
Where applicable, it is recommended and preferred (with your permission) that I keep in contact with your medical practitioner so all of your practitioners are fully informed of any treatments you are undergoing. A team approach works best.
